Svenska: Alexander Bagration föddes i Tbilisi i dåvarande Imeretien (idag Georgien) men växte upp i Moskva. Han var generalfälttygmästare i tsar Peter den stores armé och deltog på den ryska sidan i slaget vid Narva år 1700. Där blev han tillfångatagen av de svenska styrkorna och tillbringade åren 1701-1711 som krigsfånge i Sverige.
